Volunteer human rights officers needed in Cambodia

Voluntary Human Rights in Cambodia
Projects Abroad PRO in Cambodia works with a non-profit NGO which conducts various operations to promote human rights, training and legal consultation.
The situation of human rights in Cambodia is increasingly criticised, both domestically and within the international community. However some progress is being made to strengthen its vigilance on this issue, especially in terms of child trafficking.
This project is perfect for anyone considering voluntary work abroad, lawyers on a career break, human rights activists or international development graduates.

How can volunteer human rights officers help in Cambodia?
As a volunteer human rights officer you can use your knowledge and training to help local staff. You may work on tasks such as:
- Researching a variety of on-going local human rights issues.
- Implementing new human rights projects.
- Communication tasks including helping to translate press releases and statement letters.
- Fundraising and networking.
- Writing proposals in English and filling out grant forms.
Volunteers on this project work from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. Your placement will be at the Cambodian Legal Education Center (CLEC) Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
You will be assigned to work in one of four departments; these are Land and Natural Resources, Labour, Access to Justice and Good Governance. You will work alongside the local program staff and under overall leadership of each department head.
CLEC focuses on projects that combine legal education, legal empowerment and advocacy. Its training is aimed at a wide range of target groups, including local communities, NGOs and government officials.
This project runs all year round so you can join at any time. You decide how much time you can spare and we will help you get the most out of it.
