Volunteer in Togo

Anyone looking to volunteer in Togo will experience beaches, jungles and a vibrant French-speaking culture. Our specialist voluntary projects are available for anyone interested in volunteering in the developing world, including professionals on a career break, recent graduates or retired seniors.
Togo is a relatively small country on the Atlantic coast, located just above the equator, in between Benin and Ghana. A former French colony, Togo gained independence in 1960. However, there are many reminders of its European past, with French still spoken as the national language. In the years since independence, Togo has had a turbulent political system, leading to problems with healthcare and education. Even though the country is improving, these are areas where skilled volunteers can really make a difference. The hope is that as more volunteers provide expertise and training, Togo can continue to grow. As well as performing much needed work, you will also get the chance to explore Togo’s incredibly diverse landscape. Volunteers can visit jungles, waterfalls and coffee plantations, as well as local tourist attractions in Lome. For those interested in socialising, there are plenty of restaurants specialising in West African cuisine and traditional dancing.
