Volunteer Website Developers needed in Peru

Volunteer in Peru
This volunteer web design project helps Peruvian schools and kindergartens produce websites to announce new initiatives. We also work with various small businesses and NGOs who cannot afford to employ IT experts.
The projects we work with need to communicate with each other and share information. Businesses can also use the internet as a vital tool for marketing their products. They need volunteers with skills and experience to help them build and maintain quality websites.
Here you will find answers to the following questions

How can volunteer web designers help in Peru?
You can use your knowledge and training to help local staff as a volunteer web designer. You can work on tasks such as:
- Helping care and teaching projects to design and build a website that will promote their work and explain their goals, including work such as:
- Consultation with the person who has prepared the design brief.
- Taking part in the design stage and finding the answers to questions about why the site is needed, who the target audience will be etc.
- Producing a design that will be attractive to the target user, has a logical navigation system and has all the features required.
- Contacting stakeholders who are preparing the content.
- Testing the site for functionality in different browsers and at different resolutions and fixing any errors.
- Producing a larger parent website that will include information about various other projects and organisations in Peru. This will enable them to share information about upcoming development projects in the region.
- Presenting workshops for existing staff to educate them about maintaining and updating the website. This will ensure that your work continues after you have gone.

Volunteer in Peru
You will be working with one of our care or teaching projects in Cusco. You will be expected to work from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. The work itself will be a mixture of meetings with staff and IT work in an office.
This project runs all year and we are completely flexible about dates. You decide how much time you can spare and we will help you get the most out of it.
What will I gain from this project?
You will gain experience of working with a variety of institutions in the developing world. You will be in a position of responsibility and have to think creatively. You will also develop your teaching and communication skills through holding workshops with local staff.
You will spend time in local communities, learning about a new culture and way of life. Staff will want to hear about your life back home and your family and friends. We call this ‘cultural exchange’ and we think it helps our volunteers gain a new perspective on life.
