Voluntary teaching jobs with Projects Abroad Pro

Teaching in Nepal

A volunteer teaching

We are looking for recent graduates, retired seniors or educators and sports coaches on a career break to take part in voluntary education jobs with Projects Abroad Pro. There is no need to have a TEFL qualification for any of our projects, but in order to ensure high standards we have listed a set of desired qualifications for each available post. Ideally, anyone interested in volunteer teaching abroad would also possess at least two years’ experience of teaching or coaching in a school or club.

Projects Abroad Pro offer placements in schools, universities and sports clubs throughout the world; many of which are in some of the poorest and most underprivileged local communities. We believe that education is the best way to fight poverty, which is why volunteers with a skill or qualification can have a huge impact on the futures of children in the developing world. Teachers will get the chance to improve standards in schools and ensure that every pupil is getting access to quality, modern teaching methods. In much the same way, sports coaches play a vital role, not only in terms of improving knowledge and athletic ability, but also by acting as a positive role model to young children, developing character and leadership skills.

With many developing countries increasing their involvement with overseas businesses it is incredibly important that young people have the skills to take advantage of any new job opportunities. You can help the dedicated staff in these countries make sure that everyone gets the chance at a better future and no one gets left behind.

Volunteer teaching abroad

We see our projects as being a two-way process where you will gain just as much from the experience of volunteer teaching abroad as the people you are helping. It is a fact that as an experienced, qualified professional you will meet less experienced individuals who need you help and guidance to improve their standards. This process in itself can be both challenging and incredibly rewarding – it is the best way of ensuring that the work you do will be continued in the long-term. On the other hand, you are sure to meet experienced professionals in your industry who share your attitude, commitment and knowledge and are keen to offer advice for coping with the frustrations of the developing world. These people will want to discuss new ideas and share their expertise as well as looking for every opportunity to work with you to develop plans for the future. It is this peer to peer contact that makes our projects so special and ensures that your experience will be both professionally and personally fulfilling.

"In our school we became class teachers and so we had a lot of involvement with the children. We saw more of the poverty and unfairness than some of the other volunteers did. It was amazing to compare how we taught with how the Ghanaian teachers taught. The children got so excited about our lessons because we would try all sorts of different methods instead of just rote learning."
