Be a Volunteer Drama Teacher in Romania

Drama placement in Romania
This project works with schools in Brasov to teach pupils the importance of drama and the arts.
This is the only exposure to the arts for many of these children. It is important that they get the chance to express themselves and broaden their horizons. Your expertise can help develop young talent.
Here you will find answers to the following questions:
How can volunteer drama teachers help in Romania?
What will I gain from this project?
What will Projects Abroad PRO provide?
What skills or qualifications do I need?
How do I apply to join this project?
How can volunteer drama teachers help in Romania?
You can use your knowledge and training to help local staff as a volunteer drama teacher. You can work on tasks such as:
- Teaching Drama abroad in either a primary or secondary school, depending on your experience.
- Helping staff to teach English through drama activities.
- Coaching drama groups on current productions.
- Leading workshops with theatre groups and at festivals.
- Preparing, directing and performing a production with the Projects Abroad Drama Group – ‘Black Juice’.
- Working with local professional companies (dependant on group size)
- Leading internal workshops between volunteers.
Most of the schools we work with teach children aged 12-18. However, it is possible to work with primary schools if you want to. Class sizes are normally around 30 students.
You will be provided with resources such as a drama workshop guidebook, classroom or office workspace and contacts with drama groups & festival organizers.
Once a month, volunteers have the chance to prepare, direct and perform children’s plays for orphanages. The Projects Abroad Drama Group is their only chance of knowing and seeing what theatrical culture really means. The money raised from these productions through donations goes to our Care and Social Work projects.
This project runs all year round and we are completely flexible about dates. You decide how much time you can spare and we will help you get the most out of it.
What will I gain from this project?

Drama placement in Romania
You will get the freedom to teach drama using your own experiences and knowledge. You will get the chance to write and direct a production with our local theatre group. You will also gain experience from passing on your skills to local teachers.
Through educating the staff and pupils at these schools, you will learn about Romania’s culture and way of life. They will want to hear about your life back home and your family and friends. We call this ‘cultural exchange’ and we think it helps our volunteers gain a new perspective on life.
What will Projects Abroad PRO provide?
