Volunteer as a Teacher in Morocco

Volunteer with class in Morocco

This voluntary teaching projects works with primary and secondary schools in Rabat, Morocco. The aim is to improve the level of spoken English. This is an ideal placement for anyone looking for voluntary work abroad or teachers on a career break.

Morocco is trying to attract international businesses in order to provide more jobs. The issue is that most students mainly speak French and Arabic. They need volunteers to help work with students and improve their language skills.

How can volunteer teachers help in Morocco?

You can use your knowledge and training to help local staff as a volunteer teacher. You can work on tasks such as:

  • Teaching English abroad in either a primary or secondary school, depending on your experience, including tasks such as:
    • Planning, preparing and delivering lessons to a range of classes.
    • Marking work, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of pupils' progress and development.
    • Supervising and supporting the work of teaching assistants, trainee teachers and newly qualified teachers.
  • Working with existing staff to assess and improve current standards of teaching methodology and subject content.
  • Observing classes in order to assess existing teaching staff, offer advice and set goals for their development.
  • Organising and running training clinics for Projects Abroad volunteers working with other schools (optional).

We work with a variety of primary and secondary schools. If you have a particular area of interest or work with a specific age group then please let us know.

You will be expected to work around eight hours per day, Monday to Friday. There are also options to hold extra classes.

This project runs all year round so you can join at any time. You decide how much time you can spare and we will help you get the most out of it.

What will I gain from this project?

You will gain experience of teaching English in the developing world. You will be working alongside fellow professionals who will be keen to share ideas. You will improve your communication skills as well as developing your ability to think creatively.

You will spend time in local communities, learning about a completely different culture and way of life. Staff and pupils will want to hear about your life back home and your family and friends. We call this ‘cultural exchange’ and we think it helps our volunteers gain a new perspective on life.
